St. George Marathon Information
Rated by Runner's World as one of the four "Marathons to Build a Vacation Around" in the World. Included in Runner`s World 10 Most Scenic and Fastest Marathons and Top 20 Marathons in the USA. It begins in the majestic Pine Valley mountains and descends nearly 2600 feet through scenic southwest Utah, to the beautiful Worthern Park. The St. George Marathon is a point-to-point race which is USA Track & Field Certified & Sanctioned. Runner`s World listed the St. George Marathon as the fastest fall marathon. There are 37 Runner & Wheelchair Divisions to compete in.
Awards run 10 deep in each division.
2 Wheelchair participants Mayors Walk held Saturday, October 1st.
Over 200,000 cups are used at 15 Aid Stations along the route.
Over 4,250 gallons of water and 1,960 gallons of Gatorade hydration drink are consumed.
Mayors Walk was held Saturday, October 6, 2007, 7:00 a.m. The walk is approximately 2.2 miles in length and had over 1,600 participants last year.
Ten-Year-Club - There are now over 800 members in our 10-year runners club. A Ten-Year Club member is a runner who has participated in at least 10 St. George Marathons.
Twenty-Year-Runners - we will have 53 runners who have participated in the St. George Marathon at least 20 times.
Based on past races, we expect approximately 80% of the registered runners to finish the race - all 26 miles and 385 yards!
